The Embassy of Mexico welcomes the approval of the Merida Initiative (contained in HR 2642) yesterday in the US Senate. This bipartisan authorization follows the decision taken in the House of Representatives on June 19th and constitutes a crucial step forward towards our common goal of working together to shut down drug trafficking syndicates on both sides of the border.

Ambassador Arturo Sarukhan will travel to Indianapolis, Indiana, on a two day working visit.As part of his activities he will attend a dinner with state and local political leaders, policymakers, businessmen and cultural personalities from the state of Indiana.Tomorrow, Ambassador Sarukhan will deliver the commencement address at "Marion College" and following his presentation, he will be invested as Doctor Honoris Causa.

Margarita Zavala, President Felipe Calderon´s wife, unveiled last night the exhibition “Colors of the Wind: oil paintings, engravings and lithography from the Mexican School of Down Art”, at the Mexican Cultural Institute. Ambassador Arturo Sarukhan, Sylvia Garcia Escamilla, President of the John Langdon Down Foundation, and Juan Garcia de Oteyza, Head of the Cultural Institute of Mexico, were also present during the opening ceremony.
