STATEMENT FROM MEXICAN AMBASSADOR ARTURO SARUKHAN JULY 24th Print E-mail
27 Jul 2009

Washington, D.C., July 24th, 2009

The Mexican Government deplores the incident in which Border Patrol agent Robert Rosas was killed late Thursday in the surrounding area of Campo, California, and extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

As is standard practice, Mexican law enforcement agencies are fully cooperating on the case with their US counterparts and will spare no effort to track down and apprehend those responsible of this crime so justice can be served.

This is a tragic example of the violence we keep facing at our common border as President Calderón continues to roll-back transnational organized crime, and underscores the need for both our countries to keep working as full partners to guarantee the safety and security of those living on both sides of our border communities.
