Mexico has 45 consulates in the United States. They provide documentary services to Mexicans, such as passports, consular id’s, powers of attorney for legal proceedings in Mexico and, to non-Mexicans, travel documents for tourists, businessmen, technical personnel, retirees and so forth. Mexican consulates can be a good source of information on requirements to comply with to take your pets, vehicle and household effects into Mexico.
The Consular Section of the Embassy of Mexico meets the Consular needs of residents in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. If you live somewhere else, contact the closest consulate of Mexico in your area.
